Therapeias Health Management has been developing systems for the health care sector since 1992. Some of our previous projects include:
KPCS: A hospital inpatient pharmacy needed to have data collected from their legacy systems into a new inpatient pharmacy management system. Therapeias developed the interfaces to enable the system to upload data, in real time, from the hospital’s legacy laboratory, pharmacy and ADT systems. This data allowed the pharmacy to accurately dose hospital patients, track medication utilization, monitor use of controlled substances and manage adverse drug reactions. This provided not only cost savings but improved patient outcomes throughout the hospital.
AmCare: Based on recommendations from a national consultancy firm, a Los Angeles hospital needed a system to track and treat patients with congestive heart failure. Using these recommendations as a guide, Therapeias designed a system that proactively tracked and treated patients with multiple diseases using database-driven patient-specific care plans. The integrated system allowed phone-based care managers to treat patients in their home and alleviated the need for patients to come into the hospital for appointments. The system resulted in tremendous savings from decreased utilization while improving patient outcomes. Ultimately the hospital’s parent entity licensed the program nationally and used the system to treat over 50,000 patients across more than two dozen disease states.
Teleform: A major pharmaceutical company had a 250-site research study and needed a way to collect data from the sites while keeping training and technology overhead to a minimum. Using a system implemented by Therapeias, sites faxed filled-out case report forms to a central site. Using Teleform OCR software, Therapeias abstracted the CRF images into a centralized database management system. Therapeias also developed an web-based management system that allowed the client to closely track data submissions to ensure completeness and accuracy. The system was particularly well received by the sites as the professional staff was relieved of the responsibility of data entry and were then able to spend more time with clinical responsibilities. This study was later turned into a Phase III trial.
RxCelerator: A major HMO with over 130 pharmacies in Southern California was having issues tracking the check-ins for prescription ordering using a legacy pharmacy system. The legacy system interface experts at Therapeias implemented a web-based system that required no change to the legacy system and was faster and easier to use. RxCelerator significantly reduced the time required to check in an order and added tracking and reporting that was not possible with the legacy system, saving staff time and bringing a proven return on investment. Millions of check-ins have been processed using RxCelerator.
TheraScan v1: A government medical center needed a system to coalesce various research data sets, including data from a new 26-site research project using paper CRFs, to track ~10,000 patients with Hepatitis C and collect data from ongoing and future studies. Therapeias developed a clinical data repository that collected information on OCR case reports forms. As part of the project Therapeias produced a scanning function to upload certified copies of the CRFs and then used a web interface to view the images and verify and correct data that resulted from the form. The system was later extended to allow the uploading of non-CRF source documents that the center used in lieu of the original paper records. This system has been subsequently adopted by several major universities for projects dealing with Celiac disease, HIV and various liver diseases.
